Responsibilities include the following:
Gathering and writing sports reports, with the main focus on club sports.
Writing feature articles
Writing about cricket (Western Province, Boland and Proteas)
Building extensive contacts in the communities in the newspaper's distribution area.
General liaison with public and newsmakers
Expanding correspondent network
Translation of sports reports
Must be comfortable taking own photos
Requirements
Matric or equivalent qualification
Diploma or degree in Journalism
The suitable candidate is a trained journalist with a particular interest in sport and the world around him/her.
The successful candidate must have a strong news sense.
In addition, he/she is self-motivated and goal-oriented, shows initiative and can act independently.
Subbing and translation skills would be a plus.
A valid driver's license is a requirement.
Must have at least four years of experience in a newsroom
Sports reporting experience would be beneficial
