Manchester United are now starting a brand new era under the reign of Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager has arrived in Manchester today, meeting with United’s senior executive team for his first day in his new role.
Amorim arrives on the back of Erik ten Hag being sacked from a poor run of performances. This poor form landed United in fourteenth place this season, following an eighth place finish last season. However, Ruud van Nistelrooy managed to turn things around in just four games, taking them only four points away from the top four.
However, van Nistelrooy has now departed the club, with Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel in toe. The foursome arrived at Carrington this summer as part of ten Hag’s remodelled coaching staff.

However, Amorim has now brought five of his backroom staff with him to get United back to their former glory.
It’s been expected that Amorim would also look to bring several of his high performing players across the water to Old Trafford. The main man at the centre of the rumour mill, Viktor Gyokeres.
Manchester United’s boost for Viktor Gyokeres
In his final press conference before leaving Sporting Lisbon, Amorim told A Bola: “If I start joking about this Gyokeres situation I’ll get in trouble.”
He continued: “This is my city, this is my country, so I’ll respect it. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life will probably go somewhere else.”
However, Sporting’s chief Frederico Vanadaras is adding fuel to the speculation of a move.
Whilst it’s unlikely that United will make a move for Gyokeres in January, a summer move isn’t off the cards.
Vanadaras’ comments reflected this feeling, saying: “I can’t promise anything. If a club arrives and pays the release clause, if he (Gyokeres) wants to go, he will go.”
He continued: “But I do not think this will happen in January.”
If United could secure Gyokeres, it would be a massive signing for the Red Devils. The Swedish striker has wracked up 23 goals and four assists this season in only 18 games across all competitions, including three hat-tricks.
