No matter what fighting game you play, there are going to be certain characters you don’t like running into whether that be for their particular toolkits or how people may use them, and that certainly applies to Tekken too.
Longtime top player and coach Speedkicks recently put together a tier list for Tekken 8, but it doesn’t rank the characters based on their actual strength.
Instead, Speedkicks rates the cast based on how annoying the characters are / how he feels after fighting them with the tiers being “Ok GGs” at the bottom, followed by, I’m slightly annoyed, You are lucky no one knows this match up, You are hard carried, and the essential You have no clue how to play Tekken — so we thought it be fun to take a look at it and see how his sentiments compare to all of yours.
The bottom seems to be made up of characters who are either highly technical and / or pretty low on actual power rankings like Kazuya, Leroy and Claudio, so they get a bit more of a pass.
If you thought Azucena would be high on this list, you’d be wrong, but I guess once you know how to deal with her dodges and stance, her most potentially annoying tricks become a lot less impactful.
Victor is pretty low too, which Speedkicks says is due to him being able to react to his throws now, so if you’re still getting grabbed and teleported on, he’s probably going to be higher up for you.
The fighters rated as feeling the worst after battling are those like Dragunov, Reina, King, Xiaoyu, Lars, Devil Jin, Yoshimitsu and Alisa with Speedkicks responding in the thread that characters like those can more easily break through “high level defense” without understanding what’s really going on.
As for his own main boy over the years, Hwoarang is almost dead center, so we’re curious how you all feel about that one.
Obviously, this isn’t going to apply to all players or anything, but it’s still entertaining to see who people of all skill levels despise playing against.
