Stanley Alieke, the former lawyer to controversial rapper, Darlington Achakpo, aka Speed Darlington, has advised people to sign a prenup before marriage in order to protect their assets during divorce
The lawyer, who gave the advice in a post on Sunday, February 2, said in absence of a prenup, one can protect his or her assets by acquiring properties in their parents’ names as inheritance and gifts are typically exempted from being shared during divorce.
“If you can’t get a prenup, acquire properties in your parent’s name then have your parents give you the properties as gifts or your inheritance,” he wrote.
“Inheritance or gifts are exempted from being shared during divorce.”
