Specialist Project Controls – South32,Richards Bay

BOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Specialist Project Controls, you will be responsible to ensure:

  • The oversight of all projects to ensure compliance to the S32 Capital investment standards;
  • Monitoring and report on the current FY CAPEX portfolio;
  • Develop and coordinate the 2-5year capital project budget and forecast cycles.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Ensure compliance of the project initiation structure in CPS and 1SAP;
  • To review and compile the required documentation for the Project tollgate approval meetings;
  • Preparation and timely delivery of the Project Reports including: Cost, progress, expenditure, contingency and change metrics and commentary;
  • Monitor  and interface the accrual process for projects with Finance;
  • Interfaces as needed with the Project scheduler as related to Project Controls;
  • Educate and coach stakeholders on Project Control processes; Monitor, assess and continuously project;
  • conducting performance reviews and creating personal development plans;Investigate reported events and initiate improvements where the maintenance function has primary accountability for controlling the risk;
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, and South32 standards and requirements;
  • Identify and develop cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Has worked in Project Management administrative environment for a period of 5 – 6 years;
  • Good knowledge on systems such as SAP, MS Project and Clarizen (Capital portfolio management system);
  • Detailed understanding of project management and controls practices associated with major capital projects is essential;
  • Experience in project controls of different project stage toll gates, and associated deliverables is essential.

Qualifications for this role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering (Mechanical, Engineering, Instrumentation,) disciplines;
  • Finance and  Project  Management qualifications will be  advantageous.
