The Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) John Gaul Lebo has won the best Speaker award in Nigeria. The award which was given by the first Northern Achievers International Magazine was received yesterday by the Clerk of the House, Barr. Bassey Ekpenyong on behalf of the Speaker, and the CRSHA which also emerged the best House of Assembly in Nigeria.
The award was based on a review of current Legislative activities conducted across the 36 Houses of Assembly in Nigeria. The Speaker's stellar and peculiar performance in the area of providing the legal framework for Legislative purpose vehicles to drive the operations of special purpose vehicles SPVs for the public and private corporations leading to the emergence of Rice city, Calapharm etc.
The CRS Legislative direction 2015 to 2019 which targeted 80 bills in 4 years out which 83 has been proposed and 68 passed in 3 years.
The CRS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY economy programme and his role as Secretary of the Adhoc Committee of the Speakers Conference on Constitutional Amendment which resulted in the passage and subsequent Assent to the House of ASSEMBLY Autonomy by the President.
His role as chairman of the Speakers Conference Committee on Public Accounts.
His role in Legislative Governance which has created a harmonious working relationships between the executive and the Legislature in CRS.
Interesting, the Cross River House of Assembly won the best House of Assembly in Nigeria. The award was received by clerk of the House,Elder Barr. Bassey Ekpenyong in Kaduna,Kaduna State yesterday.
