With the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 going down this weekend, there’s a lot of high energy and action flying around including some announcements.
Bandai Namco had a few things to show and talk about that fighting game fans should be interested in with the reveal of a new Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero trailer as well as an update on rollback coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Following the conclusion of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour 2023/2024 Finals today, DBFZ Producer Tomoko Hiroki had a video message ready for the fans to thank them for their continued support and provide another update on how close rollback is to coming to the game.
“We have kept you waiting for a long time for the rollback implementation, as well as the PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ,” said Hiroki in her message. “We are currently making final adjustments for the release. We will announce the release date on the official website, SNS, etc. as soon as the final adjustments are completed, so please wait a little longer.”
Rollback netcode and the updated versions of FighterZ were first announced at Evo 2022, and we finally got a chance to try it out on the PC beta test this past December where everything seemed pretty smooth for the most part.
It’s become pretty much a meme at this point in the FGC for how long this update has taken Bandai Namco, especially when we’ve seen titles like Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Under Night In-Birth II all revealed and released within that timeframe.
While it is a bit disappointing we still don’t have a concrete date, the DBFZ World Tour organizers did try to assure fans at the end of the stream that rollback and the new version will be “coming very, very soon” and won’t be much time left to wait.
Congratulations to everyone who fought heroically during the #DBFZWT2324 Finals!
We thank you for your support and hope you look forward to the future implementation of rollback netcode and the PS5/Xbox Series X release. pic.twitter.com/KgvdpLSTqT

As for the next Budokai Tenkaichi game, we’re shown gameplay from both Goku and Vegeta during all major points of their rivalry from the Saiyan Saga through the Majin Buu Saga for Dragon Ball Z along with the move to Super Saiyan Gods and beyond in Dragon Ball Super — so they seem to be indicating different versions of the main Saiyans in the game judging by their different clothes and attacks.
They only show bits and pieces of the fights, but it looks like they’re still going for a wide open arena fighter style of gameplay with big beams shooting across the map.
Images and clips are also shown that appear to confirm the inclusion of Piccolo, Cell, Hercule Satan, Majin Buu, Frieza, Krillin, Jiren, Future Trunks, Android 17, Android 18, Super Broly, Tien, and Yamcha.
Bamco still haven’t provided a release date for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, but it’s currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
