We are now just one week away from the official Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero release and an increasing amount of footage is popping up across the internet. This now includes footage of the game’s full character select screen, which is always fun to see for the first time.
The unprecedented 182-character starting roster is spread across six pages featuring 30 fighters each, plus two tacked on at the end. The clip also shows the destruction point (DP) values for all characters.
In Sparking Zero’s standard exhibition gameplay players will choose teams of up to five characters (Dragon Ball battles so often feature a revolving cast of fighters and/or evolutions and fusions), but in more competitive modes team building has some restrictions.
The aforementioned destruction points are values assigned to each and every character, and players will have to organize their teams in such a way that the sum of the total DP is 15 or lower. The more powerful the character, the higher their DP score, and some of the Sparking Zero cast members cost 10 DP right out of the gate.
The most powerful characters in the game include Blue Vegito, Blue Gogeta, SSJ4 Gogeta, Beerus, and Whis while the nine DP fighters include Ultra Instinct Goku, LSSJ Z Broly, SSJ Full Power Super Broly, Half-Corrupted Fused Zamasu, and Full Power Jiren.
The point values go down from there with 7,6, and 5 being the most populated sections, and there’s only a single 1 DP character in the game: Hercule/Mr. Satan. The DP strategy goes a bit deeper, however, as some combinations of characters can fuse while other fighters may have the ability to transform into stronger versions of themselves during the battle.
The 15 DP limit only applies to your starting lineup, so you can still transform any of your characters into versions that cost more while amid the fight. Below is a still image of the roster according to DP values, and under that is the clip showing a cycle through the entire Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero character select screen.
