The prince actually has more but this doesn’t include the full roster
The world of Dragon Ball is made up of over 100 characters with their own powers and fighting styles, and the Budokai Tenkaichi games are generally the best at getting the largest chunk of them on one playable roster.
Gamescom 2024 is going down this week, and besides getting to see Terry Bogard in Street Fighter 6 and Mai Shiranui for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in action, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is also on the show floor with a new playable demo.
Some photos of the current demo’s character select screen have been shared online by SLOplays, which reveals how the cast is shaping up.
This also lets us get a better visual of just how many spots are going to Goku and Vegeta especially, considering transformations are counted as individual fighters on the character select screen — though you can also power up into appropriate forms in actual gameplay too.
And needless to say, there’s a lot of the two main Saiyan fighters considering they plus Gohan make up the entirety of the first third of the image.
Sparking Zero!’s demo has a total of 24 different forms of Goku and Vegeta by our count out of the 77 fighters available here, which equates to 31% of this roster.
If you add Gohan to that count, the trio makes up over 41% of the demo though the full game won’t be nearly that high since this is only about half of the complete roster.

Funnily enough, Vegeta actually has more slots than Goku here at 13 compared to 11 because the prince also has his Great Ape form and Super Vegeta from the Cell Saga.
Both Saiyans have four different base form choices to pick from going from the start of Dragon Ball Z through Dragon Ball Super, so basically every canon version of Super Saiyan is here.
As mentioned before, however, this isn’t the full roster, so the demo is missing Goku’s Ultra Instinct variants too (as well as Goku Black and the fusions if you want to count them).

With 164 fighters confirmed for the base roster of Sparking! Zero, Vegeta and Goku will make up at least 17% of the roster from what we’ve seen so far, and there could technically be more.
That would technically be less than Dragon Ball FighterZ surprisingly, considering Goku plus Vegeta make up around 20% of that roster if you count Goku Black and 18% if you don’t.
Gohan and Trunks also receive like 10 forms each as well though they’re going to be a bit more varied than their fathers considering they have the child versions to pick from too — plus Future Gohan showing up with one arm for the first time in a fighter.
Outside of the Saiyans, Majin Buu seems to have the most representation in the demo with five variations between the original, Super Buu, Buutenks, Buuhan and Kid Buu.
There are also a couple more deep wells Bandai Namco could potentially pull from for more characters considering the roster is only made up of canon Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super fighters.
That means the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT and the original run of Dragon Ball Z movies are completely absent from Sparking! Zero currently — so there’s no Z Broly, Cooler, Baby, Android 13 or any other villains / forms from those.
And there’s certainly more DLC to be found in there too.
As far as their current post-release content goes, however, we know it’ll focus on Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero at first, so expect Beast Gohan and Orange Piccolo to make an appearance too alongside the Gamma brothers.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zeros is currently scheduled to release on October 11, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
