A South African man, Mlondi Cele, k!lled his 21-year-old girlfriend, Bongeka Makhathini and their 3-year-old son, Okuhle, over alleged cheating.
The man, who committed suicide after the double murder, reportedly claimed that Bongeka had cheated on him and that Okuhle was fathered by another man.
According to a voice note Mlondi sent to a relative, his suspicions drove him to commit the heinous act.
Both Bongeka and her son were found with their throats slit, and Mlondi was also discovered hanging from the roof inside their RDP house.
Sources reveal that Mlondi had been unemployed for four months and had recently displayed worsening temper issues, which those close to him attributed to his job loss.
It is also reported that Bongeka’s cell phone was destroyed during the incident, possibly to erase evidence.
Disturbingly, the house where this tragedy occurred is the same house where Mlondi’s father was murdered three years ago.
Former Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, who is Mlondi’s uncle, recounted receiving the heart-wrenching news.
According to him, Mlondi’s voice note provided directions to the crime scene and hinted at his intentions.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Bheki Cele revealed that Mlondi had been unemployed and battling anger issues.
The house, which was the site of the murders, belonged to Mlondi’s late father, who himself was murdered three years ago.
“We are devastated and wish he had chosen to only take his life instead of harming innocent people,” Cele said, adding that the Makhathini family is equally broken,” he said.
