South African clubs fight over Akpeyi

Four South African clubs are chasing free agent Daniel Akpeyi, according to the Citizen.

The experienced goalkeeper was released by Kaizer Chiefs early this month.

His contract will expire at the end of June.

Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United, SuperSport United and Swallows FC are reportedly interested in the veteran goalie.

Akpeyi made 12 appearances for Amakhosi last season with the Nigerian keeping five clean sheets and conceding seven goals.

The 35-year-old is currently alone and keeping fit as he looks forward to joining another club this summer.

He is keen to play on a regular basis for his new club.
