Besides the anime going away over a decade ago, Bleach fans had been starving in the video game department too for years outside of mobile titles, but the series has entered a renaissance where these souls are eating pretty good now.
Bandai Namco just dropped the debut trailer for the manga’s most iconic villain with Sosuke Aizen tearing up the worlds in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.
It seems the traitorous former captain will be donning his attire from the Arrancar arc unsurprisingly though he can change things up in the heat of battle.
They don’t show Aizen busting out any broken hypnosis powers using his Kyoka Suigetsu, which would probably be fairly hard to work into a fighting game beyond simple substitution illusions.
Instead, we get to see one of the series’ most powerful characters unleash the iconic Hado 90: Kurohitsugi and take out that black box before things get really interesting.
On top of his swordplay and special abilities, Aizen can apparently evolve and transcend during battle with the Hogyoku.
They show off not only his weird bodysuit transformation, but also his long-haired awakening plus the fourth phase of the Hogyoku fusion with his butterfly wings.
So it’s going to be very interesting to see how that all can be used in the actual gameplay.
Rebirth of Souls should have at least one more character trailer ahead of it for the head captain himself Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto setting the battlefield ablaze at least until the DLC starts dropping.
Bleach Rebirth of Souls is set to launch on March 21, 2025 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and you can see more of the action in the previous release date trailer.
Check out the bad boy Aizen in his own trailer below too of course.
