Drive Rush is universally one of the most powerful options in Street Fighter 6. Needless to say, it’s only really limited by the Drive Gauge, as well as a player’s willingness to use it.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Drive Rush isn’t without its proper counters. There are ways to discourage players from using it, though some opponents will seemingly just keep using this so called “neutral skip” anyhow.
A clip uploaded by BreezyMan humorously highlighted this. For a Dhalsim user, it can be particularly troublesome to deal with this sort of situation repeatedly.
Though Dhalsim does have long limbs that allow him to easily poke at opponents that keep trying to Drive Rush in, the threat of a jump in or Drive Impact are possibilities that can’t be ignored. Eventually, hesitation sets in.
Despite hitting some players with a normal plenty of times before, however, they’ll just keep using Drive Rush to push forward. Unfortunately for Dhalsim, the opponent only needs one opening to make it all worth it.
In a way, repeatedly using Drive Rush like this is a mix up in of itself. It’s hard to imagine players in the Master rank doing this sort of thing, but that’s part of the reason why it can work so well.
Check it all out below:
Street Fighter 6 Meta is developing nicely, drive rush carries enough risk to make players think twice before carelessly doing it in neutral. As demonstrated here I showcase how to punish drive rush at the highest level. When you punish it once they won’t try drive rush anymore. pic.twitter.com/dw2gHmduOV
