Some of the world's best Chun-Li players put together a collaborative Street Fighter 6 match up chart for her

Last week, a group of top level Japanese Street Fighter 6 players gathered together to construct a full tier list for the game that includes the latest DLC character, A.K.I. These players, which consisted of Sako, Moke, Nuki, Uryo, Santarou, Kishiri, and Go1, all happen to be Chun-Li players, and at that same time they put together a collaborative Chun-Li match up chart as well.

Today we’re having a look at how Chun-Li’s match ups play out in Street Fighter 6, as told by a group of players that know the character very well.

Generally, a match up chart focuses on a specific character and details how well that world warrior does against every character on the roster. Organizing each fighter into categories such as “disadvantaged,” which means the main character loses to those fighters, or “advantaged,” meaning they tend to win in those match ups, help players determine what opponents a character is good (or not) against.

This collaborative match up chart is all in Japanese, but thanks to the translation of our very own Nicholas “MajinTenshinhan” Taylor, we have the English names for each category. Starting from the top, the list sees the following categories: disadvantage, slight disadvantage, even, slight advantage, advantage.

To kick things off, these seven top Chun-Li players agree that ol’ Chunners is disadvantaged against both JP and Guile. This is likely due to how strong both characters are at zoning, and I’m guessing that they feel Chun-Li struggles to properly deal with it.

Dhalsim and Lily sit in the “slight disadvantage” category, and Dhalsim is likely there because of his zoning prowess as well. Lily, on the other hand, is surprising to see, but as a Lily main myself I believe her ability to get in after fullscreen wind stocks (thanks to Chun-Li’s fireballs not going fullscreen) are why they feel she gives Chun-Li trouble.

There are other fascinating placements here as well, such as Ken, Luke, and Cammy all being even match ups for Chun-Li. These three characters are typically considered some of the best in the game, while Chun-Li generally isn’t, so the fact that she does decently against them is interesting.

That being said, these seven Chun-Li players did place her at the #3 best in the game, so it’s clear that they think highly of her strength in Street Fighter 6.
