Some of the highest ranked players in Tekken 8 have been caught rank boosting

Tekken 8 was recently released worldwide. Players around the world are already grinding online to establish their rankings on the online leaderboards.

Unfortunately, it would seem that not everyone wants to achieve their rank legitimately. As pointed out by Koenji, at least two of the top players on the leaderboard have been caught rank boosting to artificially elevate their positions on the leaderboard.

In a replay between AkasyaDuragi and CennetMahallesi, one player is just seen walking forward while the other simply spams a couple of kicks. This results in the offensive player scoring a perfect over the other.

It turns out that these two players are specifically queuing up against one another. One player will get a free win while the other intentionally throws the match.

At the time of this clip being uploaded, these two players were reported to be at rank 1 and rank 2 respectively.

Since then, however, AkasyaDuragi has fallen into rank 5 while CennetMahallesi is now the second highest ranked player. Due to how replays expire in Tekken 8, it’s currently not possible to see if any of the other top ranked players are also rank boosting to inflate their leaderboard positions.
