A Nigerian pharmacist has decried the spike in the prices of drugs meant for cancer patients.
In a post shared on X, @subpharmacist said he is currently working in a cancer clinic and he has noticed a low turnout of patients. He mentioned that upon inquiry, he discovered that a lot of patients can no longer afford the drugs as most of them have doubled in price.
He wrote;
‘’I am currently working in the cancer clinic, and sadly, the prices for some cancer medications have doubled. I noticed a few patients in the clinic. I tried to find out why, and what I found out was heartbreaking. A lot of patients can no longer afford to pay for their medications. Something that was sold for N200/tab is now about 400/tab. Some injections moved from N200k to a crazy figure. How are patients going to cope? How’s the average Nigerian going to deal?
The Ministry of health and the Nigerian government have to look into this. People are no longer at ease.”
