Soludo’s wife extend healthy living advocacy to hospitals to mark 55th birthday

The wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has extended her healthy living advocacy tagged “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo Initiative to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospitals (NUTH) Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Amaku-Awka, Okpoko General Hospital Onitsha and other healthcare facilities in the state.

The advocacy tour that took place on Thursday, July 31st, 2025 was part of activities to celebrate her 55th birthday, where she emotionally offset medical bills, donate food items to vulnerable sick patients mostly children and orphanage in the above mentioned health facilities.

Speaking to Journalists shortly after the tour, Mrs Soludo who is also the founder of the Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo Initiative, said the celebration visit aim to promote a healthy living culture among residents in the state irrespective of tribe, ethic and religion affiliations.

She explained that she has a long-standing tradition of celebrating her birthday not with parties, but with visits to hospitals and homes for the less privileged.

“Each year, I spend my birthday with the sick, the motherless, and the vulnerable. It is my way of reflecting on the true meaning of human existence,showing love, giving hope, and putting smiles on people’s faces.”

She noted that bringing happiness to others is her greatest source of joy.

“My happiest moments are when I see people smile. That is all I need to feel fulfilled. With what I have done today, I consider my birthday celebration complete whatever comes after is just extra.”

“This birthday is not just about celebrating a person, it is a moment of charity and reflection.”

“I am highly impressed how several good-spirited individuals donated funds used to offset medical bills and support widows and the less privileged to mark my day.

“This tradition began long before my marriage, even during my single years, I celebrated with orphans, the sick, and the poor. I have never really been one for parties. If you see me organizing a birthday gathering, it is usually something low-key with my family or close friends. Celebrating with the less privileged has always been a part of me,” she noted.

The governor’s wife while expressing deep appreciation for the medical staff at Okpoko General Hospital Onitsha for their dedication and the hospital’s cleanliness, equally urged other well-meaning individuals in the state and the country at large to emulate her kind gesture to make the society a livable place for all.

In their unanimous appreciation, the beneficiaries wish her long life and prosperity ahead.
