Soludo’s wife decries rising cases of organ failure among children in Nigeria

The first lady of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has decried rising cases of organ failure among children in Nigeria.

She raised the alarm when she led a wellness walk in Awka, on Saturday, to promote physical fitness and raise awareness on disease prevention in the state.

It was gathered that the exercise, organised under her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, brought together government officials, health workers, students and residents who joined the walk from Aroma through major streets in the state capital.

Speaking further with Journalists shortly after the event at the Awka Stadium, Mrs Soludo highlighted the importance of regular exercise in maintaining good health.

She said that physical activity helps prevent lifestyle-related ailments such as organ failure, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.

“Health is the greatest wealth and a healthy body is the foundation of a productive life.

“We must learn to care for ourselves through consistent physical activity and healthy choices.

“We mobilised about 10,000 residents for this fitness walk, which is holding simultaneously across all the 21 local government areas,” she said.

“Our mission at Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo Initiative, is to mobilize all critical segments of society and inspire them to embrace healthy living as a culture and lifestyle.

“We are committed to providing the necessary education, resources and support to empower individuals to make informed choices and adopt sustainable healthy habits.

“By fostering a culture of health consciousness, we aim to create a ripple effect that extends beyond individuals, influencing families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

Soludo urged residents to embrace simple habits such as walking, stretching and eating healthy meals as practical steps toward overall wellbeing.

She also reiterated her commitment to promoting healthy living through continuous advocacy on fitness, nutrition, hygiene and mental health.

The event also featured aerobics sessions, and wellness talks by health professionals.
