Sofyan Amrabat has had a really tough loan spell at United, experiencing a really difficult season.

On the back of a successful season with Fiorentina, having made 49 appearance across all competitions, making it to the final of the Europa Conference League, United came knocking offering a loan spell for the 27-year-old.

This was not the first loan experience of Amrabat’s career, having been loaned by Hellas Verona from both Club Brugge and Fiorentina whilst signed by the clubs, but United marked his first time entering the Premier League.

However, having only made ten starts since joining the club, Amrabat has really been seen as a substitute in Erik ten Hag’s plans, making a future eleven appearances coming on off the bench in the league.

Across all competitions, the Moroccan international has only made 30 appearances for the club, five of which w him covering the left-back positions to cover United’s injury woes with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both side-lined.

Although the season has been relatively poor for Amrabat, it did see him start and end well, beginning his United career with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the League Cup, and ending with lifting the FA Cup after an unexpected 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City.

With a strong finish to the season, having really shown his potential in United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, Amrabat went on to play well again against Newcastle United and ultimately secured his spot on the team sheet ahead of Casemrio for the FA Cup final.

The Moroccan’s desire to play for United has come through throughout the season, with his first post match interview saying “It was the perfect night and I’ve worked my whole career, my life for this.”

It comes as no surprise, especially with issues at his home club, Fiorentina, whereby he was training alone throughout last year’s preseason, that The National News are reporting Amrabat want’s to remain at United, although it’s unknown at this time what United’s stance on Amrabat’s future is.
