With the season coming to a close following the FA Cup Final, we see the departure of those loaned into the club and the return of those loaned out, back hoping to make their way into the squad.

One individual who has come to the end of their loan spell is Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Although he’s experienced a difficult season at Old Trafford, coming on loan from Serie A side Fiorentina, having primarily been a substitute in ten Hag’s plans, having only made ten starts, Amrabat has shown real potential and massive improvement towards the end of the season, including in United’s unexpected win over Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

Having been a part of the team that secured a victory in the final and therefore European football next season in the Europa League, many fans are changing their mind about the 27-year-old.

United have already spent £8 million on the player with the initial loan deal, however have the option of signing him permanently for £21 million which could be sealed in the coming transfer window.

The Standard has reported that Amrabat himself has come forward to say “Staying is certainly an option.” He continued to say “I think it has been a very difficult season. For Manchester United it needs to be much better, and also for me personally.”

Ultimately the decision on Amrabat’s future could depend on the managerial situation due to play out at United with Erik ten Hag’s position under review following a poor performance in the Premier League and Champions League.
