SOCIAL MEDIA GAG BILL: President Muhammadu Buhari takes to his Social Media Account to Allay Fears -By Efio-Ita Nyok

The 8th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday 7 December 2015 at exactly 5:50pm local time, took to his social media account, namely, Facebook, to allay the fears of disturbed Nigerians on the certainty of his refusal to sign Sen. Bala Ibn Na'Allah's sponsored 'social media gag bill' which scaled through second reading on the floor the Senate on 1 December 2015.

He assured Nigerians that his office 'won't accent to any legislation that may be inconsistent with the constitution of Nigeria'. He even went as far as assuring Nigerians that the current anti-social media bill won't enjoy the consent of Nigeria's Red Chamber stating that:'…because the Senate is a democratic Senate'.

Meanwhile, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the Bayelsan senator popularly referred to as the 'common sense minister' has also assured Nigerians in a similar development that such a bill won't enjoy his blessing. On the other hand, the Kebbi senator, Na'Allah, who sponsored the obnoxious bill is said to be under way to be recalled from the Senate by his constituents. 30, 000 signatures have already been collected in this regard.
