Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State was conspicuously absent at the National Economic Council-NEC Meeting. Neither was there a representative of government from Cross River State.
The deputy governor who should attended the NEC Meeting did not because as usual, his hands are tied. Governor Ayade who has left the country for over a month now, left without delegating State official functions to his deputy.
I don't know why the co-governor Frank Ayade did not attend the meeting too.

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, has been out of the state for over 4 weeks now plying, according to a recent report, no fewer than 10 countries 'sourcing for investors'. But all we hear from government media aides is that he is busy signing MoUs. This explains why and how he was not present at the 20 March 2016 National Economic Council Meeting. And because he didn't officially leave the state, according to which he would have transmitted power to the Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu, there was no representative of the state Governor in Abuja.
Critics in mocking the state Governor had ask why his younger brother Dr. Frank Ayade derogatorily referred to as the 'defacto governor' wasn't there to represent his elder brother. In fact, the hash tag #BringBackOurGovernor is beginning to trend.
