'It is a shame that even in the absence of the Governor of Cross River State, the Honorable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria could not win a common constituency elections for his party'.
Ifere Paul
March 2016.
The above statement is attributed to Ifere Paul, Cross River leading public policy analyst and environmental activist. If you follow political trends in the state especially the rerun election of Yakurr II State Constituency you agree that the results which places PDP's Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams at a far lead against LP and APC candidates, could be termed an acid test for the political genius in the leading member of the All Progressives Congress-APC in the state, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani.
These are the official results of the just concluded Cross River State House of Assembly elections rerun of Yakurr II State Constituency which goes thus:
*PDP: 4380
*APC: 3670
*LP: 2180.
The question becomes, how solid is the APC in Cross River State politics? What will the local government area elections look like? Will it be an all PDP affair? Is the APC, as perceived by some, truly a toothless barking dog, that is if the elections would even hold taking cognizance of the governor's body language? Minister Usani Uguru Usani, these questions are for your answering pleasure.
