There’s some fighting game pros out there who’ve become intrinsically linked to a particular character, and fans are going to want to see their reactions when they get announced.
Unfortunately, Dudley hasn’t been revealed for Street Fighter 6 (yet), but we got to witness the next best thing for now with a ridiculously impressive mod of the boxer in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, which of course caught the attention of the one and only NE|Smug.
After receiving a bunch of requests online, Smug had no choice but to look with his own eyes at the trailer for the fan-made character with all of the happy sound effects you’d expect.
It’s interesting to see Smug pick up on a lot of the changes both big and little the modders made to Dudley to give him some nutty stuff in the SF5 setting.
This of course got him wondering too how this could all work in Street Fighter 6, which a lot of fans are still holding out hope for.
Smug caught the attention of the fighting game community over a decade ago being one of the only players to be taking names with Dudley in Street Fighter 4 in a flashy and hype fashion using combos you didn’t even know were possible.
He has in more recent times gone back and to the boxer’s origins and getting strong with Dudley in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike too, so he’s still busting faces with his main man on a regular basis even if it’s not in the new game.
With the Dudley mod said to release sometime next week, hopefully we’ll see Smug give him a test drive for what could have been in SF5.
