Even those who haven’t played Skullgirls can appreciate the unique, enticing, and somewhat subtly sexy art style that defines a great deal of the franchise’s one of a kind personality.
That’s thanks primarily to artist Alex Ahad, who, when he’s not drawing the likes of Miss Fortune or Valentine for work, applies his style to iconic characters from other fighting game franchises like Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Super Smash Bros. and more.
We’ve rounded up a gallery of some of Ahad’s takes, leading with a bubbly pairing of Street Fighter’s Rainbow Mika and King of Fighters’ Shermie. Both of these command grabbing characters are known for being particularly curvaceous, and Ahad juxtaposes them in some interesting ways.
They actually appear twice in our gallery, the first time as Shermie puts Mika in the Steiner Recliner, and the second as both ladies… well… put their hearts together?
One character pops up here whom we don’t see all that often, and that’s Link. Link has been a prominent part of every Super Smash Bros. game, but doesn’t tend to stand out to artists as much as others on the vast SSB roster.
Ahad decided to go with a gender bender take, making Link a lady drawn in the Skullgirls style. We didn’t know we needed lady Link until we saw it, but now we’re all but hoping for the character to guest star as future Skullgirls DLC.
There’s plenty more to the full gallery below, so give it a look through and then let us know in the comments which of these were your favorites and why.
