According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in OGC Nice’s French defender Jean Clair-Todibo could see a smooth progression. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is in the process of acquiring a 25% stake in Manchester United from the Glazers and set to oversee the club’s football operations, reportedly won’t interfere with Spurs’ potential deal.
Despite Ratcliffe’s connections with Manchester United, his involvement is not anticipated to hinder Tottenham’s effort to sign the 23-year-old Todibo, with Nice’s valuation of the player reportedly exceeding £35 million.
Spurs are currently in negotiations with Nice, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Tottenham appears to be leading Manchester United in the pursuit of the French international.
The Evening Standard has also noted that Nice, under Ratcliffe’s ownership, is open to negotiating with Tottenham for Todibo, provided their valuation is met, instead of waiting for a possible offer from Manchester United.
Tottenham has been proactive, engaging in discussions not only with Nice but also with Todibo’s agents. They have assured the defender of a significant role in their first team, where he would play alongside Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
