Manchester United legends Bryan Robson, Andy Cole, and Denis Irwin will see their salaries significantly reduced as part of ongoing cost-cutting measures at Old Trafford.
According to Mail Sport, the trio who serve as club ambassadors, have been informed that their payments will be lowered starting next season.
A wide-ranging review of expenses is ongoing, and former players working as matchday ‘legends’ may also face reductions.
This group, including figures like Gary Pallister, earns between £500 and £1,000 per game for their matchday roles.
Robson, a beloved former captain, leads various club initiatives, including a Kilimanjaro trek in October to raise funds for the Manchester United Foundation.
Irwin and Cole, vital to United’s successes in the 1990s and early 2000s, have also been significant figures in the club’s history.
Cole scored 121 goals in 275 appearances, while Irwin earned 368 caps as a full-back for United.
Ratcliffe and INEOS’ arrival initiated a financial overhaul aimed at reducing losses.
As well as redirecting funds to the first team and a potential new stadium.
United’s financial struggles include losses of hundreds of millions in recent seasons, necessitating these drastic cost reductions.
Mail Sport previously revealed plans to make 250 staff redundant.
Plans to also consider cutting the £40,000 annual support for the disabled supporters’ association.
All departments at Manchester United have been impacted as the club seeks to achieve profitability.
