Ever since his 27.7% takeover of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has meant business all the way beginning with a near-complete overhaul of the club’s board.
He has already made some key appointmens in that regard signing highly-rated executives in Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.
It seems Sir Jim is hell bent on returning the club to glory as it is now reported he personally met with top agent Jorge Mendes to discuss two potential transfers.
As TEAMtalk cites, Portuguese outlet Record claims that United are interested in Portuguese duo of Joao Neves and Rafa Leao, both of whom are represented by Jorge Mendes.
According to the report, Record claim that United’s top priority is to bring in a top midfielder to partner rising star Kobbie Mainoo at the heart of midfield and there is concrete interest in 19 year old Joao Neves.
ESPN had late last month reported that Man United had concrete interest in the young Portuguese midfielder and this Ratcliffe-Mendes meeting adds some meat to those reports.
Neves may be only 19 but he is already making massive headlines all over Europe and is already an integral part of Roger Schmidt’s side Benfica.
Any potential deal for the young man will however not be cheap as Benfica have a €120m release clause for him.
The other subject of discussion was AC Milan superstar Rafa Leao.
The Portuguese winger has already cemented himself as one of the best wingers in the world over the past couple of years.
He has been an integral cog in the Milan machine with 93 goal contributions (57 goals, 37 assists) across his 203 appearances for the Italian giants, since a move from Lille back in August 2019 winning the Scudetto just two years ago.
According to the report, he won’t come cheap either as Mendes has let United know that a deal to bring him to Old Trafford from Milan can be done for a fee of €175m.
