This morning, the latest trailer for the upcoming Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising dropped and it’s a gameplay trailer focusing on the game’s second new character Siegfried, who was originally announced as part of the roster back at EVO Japan 2023.
In this trailer, we get a close look not just at what Siegfried has to offer in his moveset but also more of a grasp of how the 6 new mechanics for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, details on which can be found at the game’s official site, look like in action.
The first clearly obvious thing from Siegfried’s gameplay is that he has a long reach, which is hardly a surprise given the broadsword he’s known to wield. He also seems to be able to convert to specials at quite far ranges, meaning he’s a character who excels at mid-range, much like the description we got from CyGames and Arc System Works back at his reveal suggested.
We can also see that he comes equipped with a sort of rekka-type move leading into various followups, a fireball which travels along the ground much like his compatriot Percival as well as being able to change his air trajectory with a move reminiscent of Percival’s jumping Unique attack (though, Siegfried’s is clearly stronger since he cracks the ground while doing it — just saying).
Showcased as well is Siegfried’s Manigance ability, presumably his Unique attack in Versus Rising, a move where he sacrifices a portion of his own health in order to increase his attack power. If this move has any other effects beyond this, such as unique combo extensions, remains to be seen.

The end of the trailer also leaves us with a promise that the next character will be unveiled in early July, so keep your eyes and ears open as the next month rolls around for more information on Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising.
Alongside the trailer, there was also a tweet from the official Granblue Fantasy Versus twitter promising that the open beta test, which had originally been scheduled for last month but ended up being postponed, will be taking place mid-July. Whether newcomers Anila or Siegfried will be available in this beta test has not yet been announced.
