Should Alisa's chainsaws be doing this much chip damage in Tekken 8?

As stated by the developers on multiple occasions, Tekken 8 is intended to encourage “aggression” more so than previous entries. Tekken 8’s new Heat System is what really pushes this offensive playstyle for a lot of characters.

Once a fighter has activated the Heat gameplay mechanic, their attacks will begin chip damage against blocking opponents. Needless to say, some characters can deal an absurd amount of damage through chip damage alone.

A clip posted on Twitter by Still No Wang demonstrates just how powerful Alisa’s chip damage is while Heat is active. As it turns out, Alisa’s chainsaw attacks are particularly frightening while this is in effect.

After cornering the opponent, the Alisa player activates her chainsaw stance and begins an assault. Simply opting to block in this position resulted in the other player losing about a third of their health bar after about four attacks.

One thing that’s worth keeping in mind is that chip damage by itself will never deal a fatal blow. In other words, it sometimes might be best to just simply take the chip damage until the right opening presents itself.
