Today we’re highlighting the artwork of Dan KoFLove, who does indeed have a strong affinity for King of Fighters, and one franchise character in particular: Shermie.
The hard-hitting grappler is one of the more prominent members on the King of Fighters roster, especially after her KOF15 reveal. Instead of showing her off in her usual attire, Dan draws Shermie in many other characters’ clothing, often right in front of them.
This first happens with Street Fighter’s Chun-Li, who isn’t all that sure about the costume swap. The artist made the interesting choice to retain hair styles (though Shermie does get a single Chun hair tie at the back of her head) and color schemes, but otherwise switch the attire.
My personal favorite of the bunch is up next as our main subject exchanges threads with fashion model, judoka, ballerina, and Street Fighter 6 newcomer Manon. These two fit each others’ styles surprisingly well, and I have to say I wouldn’t mind seeing this look added for Manon as a DLC alternate in SF6.
In another similar image it’s Chizuru who is apparently forced to switch out costumes and she looks none too pleased by it all. Chizuru looks fairly good in Shermie’s clothes, but we could probably take or leave it the other way around… perhaps that speaks to just how well designed the character’s look is.
There are a handful more images with solo Shermie, and some of them are more subtle references to other characters not depicted. You’ll appreciate the gallery below (whether you’re a Shermie enthusiast or not) so give it a look through and let us know in the comments which is your favorite and why.
