Mileena made her debut video game appearance in Mortal Kombat 2 back when it was released in the arcades on November 1993. It would later be released on the Sega Genesis on September 9, 1994 in North America.
Though Mileena was created as a clone of Kitana with the added infusion of Tarkatan blood, she proved to be superior to her “sister” with their first appearances. Many agree that Mileena is the strongest character in Mortal Kombat 2 due to how her Ball Roll and Teleport Drop specials function.
In most Mortal Kombat continuities, Kitana is disgusted with Mileena’s existence while the latter tends to harbor jealousy for her clone template. As such, they are often on opposite sides during conflicts.
While Kitana uses war fans as her weapon of choice, the other prefers to stab opponents with the Sai blades. Of course, it should be noted that Mileena isn’t shy about revealing the Tarkatan features of her face as she’ll also chomp down chunks of the opponent with those razor sharp teeth of hers.
Since her debut, the “female magenta ninja” has become one of the most popular characters within the Mortal Kombat community. She’s also become a real hit with the cosplayers bold enough to portray her.
Some time ago, we highlighted how Sevir cosplayed as some of the deadliest assassins in fighting games, Cammy and Kitana. However, it turns out that Sevir also has a number of photos of herself cosplaying as Mileena as well.
Sevir’s portrayal of Mileena is clearly based on how the character appears in Mortal Kombat 9, which has seemingly become one of her most iconic appearances. Of course, the revealing nature of her outfit is reflective of her sadistic and playful tendencies.
The outfit doesn’t leave much to the imagination as it provides a good view of the user’s bare front side. It also shows much of the hips at the sides. Ironically, it is Mileena’s face that’s probably the most covered up.
Of course, her sex appeal is only one aspect of the character’s popularity. Fans also tend to enjoy her personality, quirks, and playstyle.
It really was no wonder that there was such an outcry when Mileena was strangely absent from Mortal Kombat 11, until NetherRealm Studios added her as a DLC combatant during the last wave along with Rain and John Rambo.
