Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Coordination: Ensure coordination and strategic implementation of compliance best practices to support the company’s vision, mission, and values.
Compliance and Risk Framework: Developing, implementing, and maintaining a framework of policies and procedures for managing and mitigating operational and compliance risks in line with the applicable laws and regulations.
Risk Indicators: Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs) and operational loss events, analyzing trends and patterns to identify emerging risks and areas of improvement.
Documentation: Reviewing, maintaining, and updating the company’s regulatory filings with all relevant regulators.
Rules and Regulations: Develop a deep understanding of the rules and regulations governing each market in which we operate, including monitoring any changes and developments.
Compliance Process: Designing and implementing relevant compliance processes including Know your Customer (KYC), Anti-money Laundering (AML), sanctions, and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT).
Internal Review: Conducting and overseeing internal reviews and audits periodically to ensure all relevant compliance procedures are duly followed.
Compliance Reports: Presenting quarterly compliance reports to the operations and management team.
Training: Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance-related matters, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed.
Compliance Support: Provide compliance support for transactions and ensure that all transactions are conducted in a compliance manner, including evaluating company investments to evaluate and assess any compliance risk.
Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits to monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and processes.
Verification: Ensuring and verifying that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated.
Regulatory Requirement: Reviewing marketing materials, presentations, and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management and compliance considerations into business initiatives and product development.
Relationship Management: Maintaining a good relationship with all applicable regulatory bodies as the company’s representative.
Regulatory Examination: Overseeing any internal and external audits or regulatory examinations.
Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and other relevant regulatory bodies. Translate regulatory requirements into actionable plans and initiatives, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure timely implementation
Market Expansion: Supporting product and market expansion initiatives by overseeing applications for new licenses where needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are preferred.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management and compliance in a CBN-regulated entity is required.
In-depth understanding of the Nigerian regulatory environment and international best practices in risk management and compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in risk management and compliance software tools.
