Purpose of the Position:
Responsible for driving technological advancements within the Media Technology Division (MTD), leveraging innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, creativity, and overall performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of Media Technologies, emerging trends, and a proven track record of implementing innovative solutions.
Key Performance Objectives
General Delivery
- Develop and execute a forward-looking strategy for integrating innovative media technologies into our operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of media innovation.
- Oversee the implementation of PoC (Proof of Concepts) approved by business for technical feasibility and business viability.
- Evaluate, Select and Manager technology vendors and partners to ensure the successful execution of projects
- Ensure seamless integration of new technologies with existing systems and workflows
People Management
- Lead a team of technology professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation
- Establish and manage Performance Optimization documents for all direct reports
- Establish Personal Development & Retention plans for staff
- Supervise training and development for specialist staff
- Supervise team deliverables
- Take ownership of training requirements and ensure that staff expertise is kept up to date with best industry practice
Communication
- Communicate complex technological concepts in a clear and accessible manner to non-technical stakeholders
- Foster effective communication from team to business, and from business to team
Projects Management
- Take total ownership for implementation of relevant projects
- Effective project planning and prioritization
Reporting
- Produce daily and monthly operational reports
- Produce incident reports
- Produce trending and correlation reports
- Produce Root Cause Analysis of incidents
- Produce service metric reports to match SLA/KPIs
Budget Management
- Develop and manage budgets related to media technology initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and maximize the value of technology investments
Functional Competencies
- Practical understanding of digital TV broadcast and receiver technologies
- Software deployment pipelines and hosting knowledge required
- In-depth infrastructure, Server, OS, networks and monitoring knowledge required
- Systems thinking and sub-system integration
- Experience in developing business cases
Formal qualifications and work experience
- Bachelors’ degree or higher in a Computer Science or related field. Post graduate diploma or Management certification preferred
- 10+ in PayTV industry years of Engineering experience of which at least 2-3 years should have been at management level within a “software development” environment
- Cloud Certification will be an advantage
- AI/ML knowledge preferred
- Proven track record of supporting complex enterprise systems/applications in an agile environment
- Experience with professional software engineering best practices
