Senior Legal and Compliance Officer
Job Description
Compliance Management:
- Develop, implement, and monitor the organization’s compliance programs.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across all business operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines, ensuring the company complies with new or changing laws.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting of compliance matters.
Legal Advisory:
- Provide legal advice and counsel to the organization on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to minimize risks.
- Ensure legal protections for the company’s intellectual property, employment matters, and contractual relationships.
- Handle litigation and disputes, working with external legal counsel as necessary.
Policy Development:
- Develop and update internal policies, ensuring alignment with legal standards and corporate objectives.
- Conduct regular training for employees on compliance-related topics (e.g., anti-corruption, data protection, and ethical practices).
- Collaborate with departments to review procedures and policies to mitigate legal risks.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential legal and compliance risks within the organization and recommend corrective actions.
- Establish and monitor controls to prevent or mitigate legal and compliance risks.
- Lead internal investigations of compliance violations or potential legal issues.
Requirements
- 5-8 Years post-call experience.
- 3 Years of Compliance experience.
- Professional certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
