Following the appeal by Sen. Princess (Dame) Florence Ita Giwa to young people of Cross River State to rise up and protect their State against the 40 hours of wanton looting experience, certain areas of Calabar South in particular is beginning to return to normalcy with stolen items being returned.
Recall that Senator Ita had taken to Calabar most populous and revered roundabout, “Itiad Udi Abasi Orok” on her knees to make an appeal to the young people to desist from the dastardly destruction of properties, thereby stirring a social unrest, pain and unfore told hardship.
Today, with her entourage, she stormed most rural areas of Calabar South recovering stolen items belonging to the aged-long Calabar psychiatric hospital and with a quick follow up handover to the Chief Medical Director.
While addressing youths and still advocating for peace to be given a chance, Sen. Ita said, “i am appealing to our communities, Cross River State is not a rich State. So, it will not be easy for us to buy these things. The Governor will not be able to buy them automatically tomorrow. We will set up a line so we can retrieve our equipments. Even to the international community, please help us”.
Some of the items recovered for the psychiatric hospital Calabar have been returned to the hospital with more appeals for persons in possession of other items not belonging to them to take the bold step and return these items which will aid certain areas of the state back and running.
“We know our children were angry but forgive us and help us”, she pleaded.
