An assistant chief from Mawingu location in Molo, Kenya, Joseph Rotich, has been fired for being drunk while on duty.
Rotich was captured on a video that went viral on social media when President Uhuru Kenyatta was touring Molo Sub County last week.
Addressing the media in Nakuru town on Wednesday, Rift Valley Co-ordinator, Wanyama Musiambo, said Rotich was dismissed immediately for being drunk while at work.
Musiambo said Rotich admitted that he had been drinking chang’aa from the local brewers in the area.
Musiambo said that Rotich would on Thursday be arraigned before a Nakuru law court.
“We have dismissed Rotich for being drunk at work and also permitting the brewing of chang’aa at his location of Mawingu,” he said.
Surprisingly, the fired chief was still drunk during the press briefing and would constantly be seen swinging from his chair aimlessly.
