Second ‘official’ tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate based on voting from 61 panelists

Second 'official' tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate based on voting from 61 panelists

It’s been almost a full year since the first official tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released. Due to how the meta has shifted since then, the second tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been officially released by Luminosity thanks to the efforts of 61 panelists consisting of MkLeo, ApolloKage, BassMage, Dabuz, DDee, Onin, Tilde, Tweek, Zomba, and many other notable names within the community.

As expected, a lot has changed since the previous tier list. However, it would appear that Steve has remained as the undisputed best character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to Luminosity, 46 out of the 61 panelists (75.4%) placed Steve as the best character. Sonic was the only other character in which multiple panelists believed was the number one character due to there being nine panelists that labeled him as such.

As a result, the S+ tier category is no longer made up of DLC characters (Steve, Pyra & Mythra, and Joker). Instead, Steve and Sonic the Hedgehog take up the top slots of the tier list.

Mr. Game & Watch and Snake have had significant boosts to their positions on the second tier list, going from the 18th and 15th positions to the 3rd and 4th positions respectively. They can be seen at the top of the S tier group along with Pyra & Mythra and R.O.B.

Compared to the first tier list, this second official list has characters spread out more, particularly in the middle portions. Due to this, tier categories now range from S+ to E-, rather than S+ to D-.

Ganondorf is the only character to occupy a tier category by himself at the very bottom within the E- category. Of course, things don’t look much better for Dedede, King K. Rool, and Little Mac, who have been positioned in the E+ group.
