Cross River State Commissioner for Quality Education, Dr. Godwin Amanke has charged the newly-inaugurated Secondary Education Board (SEB) to step up to the plate and wield groundbreaking innovations that would better the Post-Primary Education sub-sector of the State.
Dr. Amanke, who gave the charge,this thursda, in his office in Calabar during the inauguration of the State Secondary Education Board, also maintained that the Board must endeavour to repay Governor Ben Ayade’s confidence and choice of the team he referred to as “square pecks in square holes.”
Congratulating the Board on behalf of the State Governor, whom he described as “a careful selector,” as well as the Quality Education Ministry, the Commissioner expressed confidence in the Team’s ability, while noting: “the fact that most of these members are being returned after a successful first tenure on the Board in good stead to deliver on its mandate.”
Speaking further, Dr. Amanke sued for synergy between the Ministry and its Boards, while pledging his readiness and commitment to partner relevant agencies on areas that would engender quality education for the children and the overall development of Cross River State.
In his acceptance speech, the Board Chairman, Mr. Ebe Idagwu, on behalf of other members, thanked Governor Ayade for the privilege of choosing them to serve the State under his administration.
Mr. Idagwu also appreciated the Commissioner, Management and Staff of the Ministry of Quality Education for the solidarity, while assuring that his Board will strengthen collaboration with relevant authorities to ensure efficiency and improvement of the educational sector of Cross River State.
The SEB Chairman implored stakeholders, as well as teachers and students in public schools to rise up to the occasion to effect a positive change in behavioural patterns, academic performance and discipline for better accountability and stewardship.
Mr. Idagwu expressed optimism that his Board, under the coordination of Dr. Amanke as Commissioner for Quality Education, will strive to entrench sound educational reforms as prioritized by the Ayade-led administration.
The Board has Mr. Ebe Idagwu as Chairman, while Dr. (Mrs.) Itang Egbung, Hon. Nsa Ewa, Mr. Godwin Odey Oko, Ntufam Alphonsus Etambui are members. Mr. Lawrence Eyo Nsa is the Board’s Secretary.
