Manchester United have had no luck with injuries this season and just as things seemed to look up after the international break, but it is now every bit as dire as it was.
After all the defensive injuries last week, the ominous bad luck was well and truly back.
The freshest addition to the list is duo Marcus Rashford and Scott Mctominay.
Marcus Rashford went down with an injury in the second half of Liverpool and had to be brought off for Antony.
Scott Mctominay on the other hand missed the Liverpool game altogether and was a surprise exclusion from the list.
It was later revealed on the club’s official website that he missed out through injury.
As Confidential reported, McTominay hyperextended his knee in last week’s defeat at Chelsea, ergo missing the Liverpool game.
The Scott has been ruled out for about 2 to 3 weeks, although there is some measured optimism he may be back for Saturday’s Bournemouth clash, which means he will only miss the one game.
Casemiro has however made his return, although his overall performances since and this season altogether have been somewhat disappointing.
To the point of the being no end in sight, manager ten Hag did sadly confirm he doesn’t expect any of the injured centre backs any time soon.
‘I don’t think at short notice they will return,’ said the United boss.
This fresh double injury blow the past week has added to the already full injury list with more than half the defensive unit in the physio’s office
As manager Erik ten Hag confirmed, he doesn’t expect them back any time soon and there is no confirmed return date except for Martinez, Varane and left back Luke Shaw.
All three of the defenders are projected to only make their returns in May which means they will be out for the Premier League run in further diminishing already fickle chances of Champions League qualification.
