Scorpion takes on Stone Cold Steve Austin, Michael Jackson, Kevin McCallister and more in these brilliant stop motion fights

GET OVER HEE-HEERE!

March 16 may not stand out to everyone as a particularly special day, but long time professional wrestling fans (of which there’s a ton of overlap with the fighting game community) know it as “3:16 Day” in honor of the greatest wrestler of all time: Stone Cold Steve Austin.

While perusing fighting game social media on this most set apart of days, we stumbled upon a stop motion animation of Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion taking on the Texas Rattlesnake. It turns out this fun little sequence is one of many created by talented stop motion animator D.M. Galloway, and we’ve rounded up a few of our favorites to share with you.

Here’s the first one that caught our eye. It’s relatively short (though none are all that long) and sees Scorpion go for his trademark spear pull. It doesn’t go all that well, of course, and Stone Cold winds up getting a little more violent than usual, which makes sense given his opponent.

Next up we have a massive change in gears as the yellow clad ninja takes on The King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. This is Smooth Criminal load out Michael Jackson (a very important distinction) and so he has access to his iconic lean and hat maneuvers.

After taking care of Scorpion in style, MJ is approached by yet another Kombatant looking for blood. It becomes a battle of badass hats as Kung Lao find out how bad his opponent truly is.

Time for another massive gear change as the most recognizable character in Mortal Kombat goes toe to toe with 10 year old Kevin McCallister from the Home Alone series. Kevin pulls out a few tricks from both Home Alone 1 and 2, using his (apparently upgraded) BB gun, swinging paint cans, and a good old fashioned brick to KO his opponent.

Things take a turn for the worse for Kevin at one point, but he gets a little bit of help from another Mortal Kombat character in what might actually be a clever reference to the icy slip during the climax of Home Alone 2. Either way, this one is a lot of fun:

Finally we close things out with a bit of a battle royal featuring Mortal Kombat and WWE characters. Scorpion is joined by Kano and Shao Khan, but the trio is no match for the slew of WWE superstars and their barrage of finishing moves:
