So far this transfer window, the Saudi clubs have been on the prowl for talent from Manchester United.
Firstly, United reject Donny van de Beek was linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Ahli and Al-Ettifaq looking to the Dutchman, with van de Beek praising the country’s project to develop their football leagues.
Next came interest in Casemiro, with the Brazilian’s former teammate and former Red Devil, Cristiano Ronaldo, calling in a favour trying to get the midfielder to Al-Nassr in a bid to win Ronaldo’s first piece of silverware since moving to the Saudi team. Alongside Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Qasidiya have both been looking at the 32-year-old to strengthen their squads, however are finding his hefty price tag an obstacle to making any official bid.
Reports then suggested that Al-Nassr were turning their attention to another teammate of Ronaldo, his Portuguese colleague, Bruno Fernandes, looking at a mammoth €150 million bid being prepared for the star midfielder.
However, now Al-Hilal are the team in question and their focusing on one of United’s upcoming stars to strengthen their already strong squad.
Al-Hilal are the current Saudi Pro League title holders, having held Al-Nassr at bay, winning the league comfortably by 14 points, also completing the domestic double by winning the King Cup 2-1 on penalties, again against Al-Nassr.
The Saudi club are a force to be reckoned with, having won the King Cup a total of eleven times, including five victories in the last ten years, whilst being league champions nineteen times, including holding the title six times in the last ten years.
The club currently have incredible talent on their books with the likes of Neymar, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic all signed to the club, but now the Saudi giants are looking to bring in United wonderkid, Alejandro Garnacho the the team.
Reports from Al-Kass TV referenced by YsScores suggest that the Saudi club are focusing now on younger plaers, with Garnacho as their key target.
The 23-year-old has previously been labelled by Sir Jim Ratcliffe as off limits in the transfer window thanks to his incredible season for the Red Devils, grabbing a goal in the FA Cup Final sealing the victory and trophy, also securing his slot as a top ten candidate for the European Golden Boy award, currently sat in third place.
