In a statement signed by the Director General of the Caterpillar Campaign Organization, Chief Joe Obi Bisong, members of the PDP and supporters of Prof Sandy Onor's gubernatorial campaign have been asked to remain calm and go about their legitimate businesses as justice will prevail soonest.
This is coming on the heels of the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, Wednesday, November 22, upholding the ruling of the Tribunal declaring Governor Bassey Otu as the winner of the March 16 2023 governorship election.
In its ruling, the Appellant court dismissed the Appeal by Sen Sandy Onor and PDP against Prince Bassey Otu for lacking in merit.
Reacting to the judgement, the Campaign Organisation of Prof Onor's Guber race issued a statement signed by its director General, Chief Joe Obi Bisong. The statement sighted by Calabar Parrot, suggests Onor's dissatisfaction with the court's decision and might head to the Supreme Court.
The statement informs that the judgement did not reflect the full conviction of the processes that led to the election and they will seek further legal opinion on the next steps.
“The judgement does not reflect the full conviction of our position on the processes leading to the election. We shall seek further legal opinion on the next possible steps" the statement reads in parts
Recall that the governorship tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition by Sen Sandy Onor and PDP brought before it against Prince Bassey Otu and APC.
The tribunal had held that the matter before it was a pre-election matter.
