Liverpool talisman Mohammed Salah has expressed his disappointment at the club’s failure to offer him a new contract offer, saying he looks more likely to leave.
Salah will be out of contract at the end of the season, and he has now confirmed that the club is yet to offer him a new contract as we approach the second half of the season.
The 32-year-old has scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Reds this season, he scored the winning goal against Southampton in a 3-2 win to send Liverpool eight points clear of Manchester City.
Salah said: “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club, I’m probably more out than in.
Asked if he was disappointed that he is yet to receive an offer, Salah said: “Of course, yeah.
“I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.
“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this.
“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.
“I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic.
“I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next.”
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, and he has won all the available trophies at Anfield alongside numerous individual accolades.
He has scored 223 goals in 367 games for Liverpool in all competitions.
Liverpool rejected a £150m offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad in September 2023.
The Reds will be in action against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.
