Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar is closing in on a loan transfer to Valencia from Real Sociedad, with final negotiations between the two clubs underway.
According to journalist Oma Akatugba the 26-year-old forward is set to undergo medical examinations in the coming days to finalize the move as the two clubs are currently exchanging final documents
The deal is a half-season loan, with Valencia retaining a €9 million option to make the transfer permanent. This clause offers Valencia the flexibility to secure Umar’s services on a long-term basis if he makes a significant impact during his tenure at the Mestalla.

Sadiq, who joined Real Sociedad in 2022 following a stellar spell with Almeria, has struggled to replicate his previous form. He played a pivotal role in Almeria’s promotion to La Liga, scoring 18 goals in 36 games and earning a €20 million transfer to Sociedad. However, injuries and limited playing time have hindered his progress.

At Real Sociedad, Sadiq has managed just four goals in 35 league appearances, a far cry from the prolific form he displayed at Almeria. A move to Valencia offers the Super Eagles striker a chance to rejuvenate his career and reinforce a team in need of attacking options.
Internationally, Sadiq has 11 caps with 1 goal for Nigeria in the 2-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau. Valencia fans will hope that this move reignites his form and brings the attacking firepower needed to bolster their poor La Liga campaign.
