In a committed effort to empower grassroots supporters of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, has distributed financial assistance totaling approximately N5 million to over 60 beneficiaries across Odukpani local government area.
The cash disbursements ranged from N50,000 to N200,000, aimed at supporting trading, farming, healthcare, and tuition fees among the recipients.
The beneficiaries, predominantly from the Okoyong block, were selected from various wards as a gesture of loyalty and appreciation to longstanding supporters of Governor Otu.
Barr Akiba said that the empowerment initiative is made possible by the Governor’s “People-First” agenda and his commitment to creating an enabling environment for development. “We are extending the benefits of his government to the very people who have always stood by him,” he stated.
Attendees at the event included the Executive Secretary of the Calabar Urban Development Authority (CUDA), leaders of the legislature, councillors, ward chairmen, and the wife of the Special Adviser on General Duties.
The next phase of the empowerment will involve the presentation of items to further assist beneficiaries.
Barr Akiba closed by thanking the Governor and his wife for the opportunity to serve and to extend these life-enhancing benefits to the people at the grassroot.
