Ryu is now among the characters used to qualify for Capcom Cup X's major Street Fighter 6 event

Over this weekend, we saw the conclusion of the Capcom Pro Tour World Warrior Finals for all 26 regions, with M80|EndingWalker coming out on top for the United Kingdom & Ireland event being the final World Warrior event. Additionally, the Capcom Pro Tour 2023 Japan event was won by HB|Kawano this weekend after having been postponed back in December.

With these two events behind us, this means that 45 out of 48 qualification slots for the Capcom Cup X have now been filled. Indeed, this means that there are only two Capcom Pro Tour Online Premier and the Last Chance Qualifier remaining as possible ways for a player to enter the major Street Fighter 6 tournament that is to be held in February.

The victories for EndingWalker and Kawano means that we can update our stats once again for the characters that were used to qualify for Capcom Cup X. This gives us a decent idea on how the meta is developing leading up to the main event.

EndingWalker’s qualification is quite interesting as he was able to do it with Ryu as his main character and Dee Jay as his secondary. Up until now, there were no players qualified for Capcom Cup X using Ryu, as a main or secondary.

Throughout Street Fighter 6’s lifespan so far, Ryu has been perceived as being on the weaker side despite being thought of as the poster child of the Street Fighter series. Though he was only just able to see representation of the Capcom Cup X just before the end of the season, there’s now at least some hope for Ryu fans.

As for Kawano, he was able to qualify using Luke. This has increased the lead of the top performing character as there are now nine players using Luke as their main with two more using him as a secondary.

The story for Luke in Street Fighter 6 has pretty much been the opposite than that of Ryu’s. Since Street Fighter 6 has been launched, Luke has been seen as one of the best characters in the meta. Needless to say, there’s clear evidence to suggest that Luke is in contention for being the best overall character in Street Fighter 6.

Additionally, EndingWalker is also the first player to be qualified with Dee Jay as a secondary as he also used Dee Jay during the United Kingdom & Ireland World Warrior finals event. Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that Dee Jay is the third most qualified character for Capcom Cup X so far.

Aside from that, the list of qualified characters looks about the same as last time. Ken is still the combatant that has qualified the second most often with seven mains and one secondary.

There are now only six fighters that currently don’t have any representation for Capcom Cup X. These fighters are Kimberly, E. Honda, Lily, A.K.I., Jamie, and Manon.
