Ryu has been featured in a ton of crossovers over the years. This certainly makes sense considering that Ryu was the protagonist of the very first fighting game, Street Fighter (sometimes known as “Fighting Street”).
It took a while for it to happen, but Ryu would eventually appear in the Super Smash Bros. series in Super Smash Bros. 4 and then return in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Similarly, Ryu (along with Chun-Li then Guile and Cammy later on) from the Street Fighter series would also be represented in Fortnite.
Despite Ryu’s legacy, many believe that Kazuya Mishima from the Tekken series is currently the strongest fighting game rep present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It’s pretty difficult to argue with this idea considering Kazuya’s emphasis on touch of death combos.
What if Ryu behaved more like how he does in Fortnite rather than how he does in Street Fighter? Ryu would be able to build a tower and then pressure Kazuya from a safe distance with a rocket launcher.
Unfortunately, this idea fails to consider that Kazuya has a very powerful reflector with his Left Splits Kick attack. This is a reflector that’s powerful enough to make many of the stronger projectiles kill at even 0%.
Funnily enough, it seems that Kazuya would still be the stronger combatant even if Ryu were to take cues from Minecraft’s Steve. Check it all out in the clip below:
