Despite it being two weeks since Manchester United released Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Dutchman might have found his next job, staying in the Premier League.
United welcomed back their legendary striker over the summer, marking an exciting return to Old Trafford after 18 years.
Van Nistelrooy was brought in, forming a remodelled coaching team that included Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Andreas Georgson, all assembled to support Erik ten Hag in turning the club’s results around.
Following a disappointing eighth-place finish last season, major changes were needed.
The new coaching setup was intended to spark improvement, however this wasn’t the case. United slipped to 14th in the Premier League, ultimately leading to ten Hag’s dismissal.
In the wake of ten Hag’s sacking, van Nistelrooy stepped up as interim manager, holding the fort until Ruben Amorim was ready to take over as the club’s permanent head coach.
Despite his short stint of just four games, van Nistelrooy’s impact was clear. The team managed three victories and a draw under his leadership, remaining unbeaten and showing significant improvement compared to ten Hag’s tenure.
While van Nistelrooy expressed a desire to stay at the club, Amorim’s arrival with his own backroom staff meant the Dutchman’s time at United came to an end.
However, even though he’s said goodbye to Manchester United, it may not be farewell to Old Trafford.

Leicester look to Ruud van Nistelrooy
The legendary goalscorer is now once more being linked to the manager’s post at Leicester.
Van Nistelrooy was linked to the post in the summer before joining United. However, with Steve Cooper having been sacked, The Foxes need a new manager to take charge.
Leicester achieved promotion from the Championship last season under the leadership of Enzo Maresca, however with his appointment to Chelsea this summer, Cooper was hired in his place.
Now, The Express has confirmed that The Foxes are looking to van Nistelrooy as a potential to take charge.
Whilst Graham Potter is reportedly the favourite option for the job, his wage demands could see Leicester look elsewhere.
Van Nistelrooy is set to miss out on the Coventry City job he applied to, with the Championship side looking to go with Frank Lampard.
However, the Dutchman is also being linked to his former side, Hamburger SV in a potential return to Germany, so he’s not short of options.
If Leicester do decide to go with van Nistelrooy, then he’ll be back at Old Trafford once more, however having to it in the away dugout, opposite his successor, Ruben Amorim.
