Ruud van Nistelrooy is truly a legend at Old Trafford, returning to the club as assistant manager for Erik ten Hag this summer.
However, with the recent sacking of ten Hag, the future of the coaching side is up in the air.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken on the role of interim manager whilst United pin down ten Hag’s successor.
It’s now been reported that Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is set to take the helm at Old Trafford, with the deal as good as done.
The Portuguese manager has been offered a three-year contract and is extremely keen to start with United once details have been finalised between the two clubs.

The Red Devils have reportedly begun conversations with Amorim on his back-room staff at Old Trafford.
Ruud van Nistelrooy expects to leave Old Trafford
Now, despite receiving a lot of praise from the senior squad, The Telegraph has reported that van Nistelrooy is expecting to leave United once Amorim is formally appointed and arrives in Manchester.
With Amorim only being appointed to the role today, with the announcement still not officially released, it’s understandable that no information has yet been revealed as to what the coaching staff will look like once Amorim starts with the Premier League side.
However, United were keen not to make van Nistelrooy another Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the Norwegian went from interim manager to permanent post.
Whether van Nistelrooy will remain at Old Trafford remains to be seen, however, the legendary striker will now be looking ahead to United’s clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford this weekend.
